    Where’s that again?

Watching the golf and Hazel Irvine commented on Henrik Stenson’s chances of winning saying a Scandinavian had never won the competition to which my friend said “ Scandinavian? I thought he was Swedish”.

    Where in the world?

Whilst watching the adverts between Coronation Street an advert came on for a TV drama entitled “Munich” about the Busby Babes airplane crash. I explained to my female companion that it was about the ‘58 Man Utd team and the tragedy of the event. Upon which she replied “How awful where did that happen?”

    Up? Down? Which way’s easier?

Planning a cycling trip can be hard at the best of times, especially such a big one as John O’Groats to Lands End. The big decision is of course which way do you go? Do you cycle from Scotland to England as going north to south is “going down and therefore easier” or do you go the other way because then you’ll somehow “miss out the hills in Scotland”.

At least someone knows what she’s talking about

Playing a game of articulate with some friends, the other team were having their turn.

    - “It’s a city in China”
    - “Tokyo”
    - “Correct”

    Angel of where?

A bloke was talking to his in-laws about some sculptures at Crosby beach in Liverpool.
“They’re by Anthony Gormley the bloke who did the angel of the north”.
“The angel of the north” said his mother in law “We’ve been passed that haven’t we?” She asked gesturing to her husband.
    “Have we? When” he replied.
“You know” she said “when we were in that place down south”

    Australian Christmas

Watching Neighbours we were discussing Australian summer happening when it was winter here. A friend was quite surprised and then asked if Australians celebrate christmas 6 months after we do in England

    Sense of direction

Talking with my girlfriend about the north pole I mentioned that how there was the magnetic north pole and a geographical north pole and that the magnetic north pole was where the magnetic fields converged and you could get there by following your compass. She was suprised as she though compasses worked “using the wind or something”.
